Behind the SEAMS: Milei’s Dress
Well, I nearly missed it due to poor planning and a Google Maps mishap, but my wonderful friend Milei is married! The wedding was amazing- the barn setting was seriously stunning, with the gorgeous rolling hills of Wisconsin farmland all around us, the company was perfect, and the food (cooked by the bride!) was delicious.
But of course, the happy couple was the best part of all. As I shared previously, I had the honor of making the dress. Now, a dress is only as good as the woman wearing it- and Milei was a beautiful bride. As I was running down the gravel driveway in my 5-inch heels, very, VERY late, the first thing I saw was Milei, ready to walk down the aisle. She looked incredible- and although I hadn’t managed to bend time and space to get to the wedding in time, I felt pretty proud that I had a small hand in this gorgeous lady’s wedding day look.
Milei was the perfect custom client. With a bespoke dress, a bride has to have a lot of trust and imagination- control-freak and anxious brides need not apply. Because of the 1000 miles between us, we had only one fitting (via phone, no less) prior to the week of the wedding, and Milei had only a handful of iPhone snaps of a pinned-together dress to satiate her curiosity about what she was going to be wearing on, you know, her wedding day. Despite all that, I never got a single anxious email in the middle of the night, or needed to talk her off a fashion ledge at any point. Her positivity and enthusiasm was infectious- it was really a joy to bring this dress to life. I wanted to share some pictures of the “behind the scenes” of the dress- and I’m sorry I’m not wearing pants in some of them- our apartment gets hot at night.
Congrats to Ryan and Milei! We love you and are so happy we got to take part in your celebration!
